Since 2017, we've been raising our voice in support of no pipe in the Northumberland Strait and the closure of Boat Harbour to pulp effluent on schedule.  In partnership with Pictou Landing First Nation, fishing associations, environmental organizations and the community at large, we've spread the word and have gotten the attention of politicians.

GET A "NO PULP WASTE" LAWN SIGN

Let NS Government and Northern Pulp know we're done with pulp waste in our water or our air by displaying a lawn sign on your property.  Choose from "NO PULP WASTE in our WATER", "NO PULP WASTE in our RIVERS", "NO PULP WASTE in our AIR".

 

Signs are free and can be picked up at:

A'SE'K GATHERING

December 19 • 2019

On December 20, Premier McNeil will announce his decision to Honour the Boat Harbour Act or to allow Northern Pulp to continue to pump effluent into A'se'k.  Join Pictou Landing First Nation for refreshments, listen to their elders, youth and leaders, and be sure to wear red in support of A'se"k and the closure of Boat Harbour on schedule.

STAKEHOLDER PRESS CONFERENCE

November 28 • 2019

The Town of Pictou, Pictou Landing First Nation, the Fishermen’s Working Group, representing 3000 fishermen from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI, and Friends of the Northumberland Strait (FONS) will present their main findings on Northern Pulp’s Focus Report during a joint press conference at the Decoste Centre in Pictou.

• Presentation from Ecojustice & FONS
• Moderated open discussion - an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and share issues/concerns they have found in Northern Pulp's focus report.

Ellen Page's "There's Something In the Water" screening at Halifax Film Festival - This documentary, filmed & directed by Ellen Page and Ian Daniel, is an examination of the disproportionate effect of environmental damage on Black Canadian and First Nations communities in Nova Scotia. Pictou Landing First Nation and Boat Harbour is one of three communities featured in the film.
